The idea of the project came from observing the smoking habits in the public areas and the impact it has on the environment. It aims at making people realize that their actions have disastrous consequences: the careless throwing of lit cigarettes cause
(only in the EU) thousands of fires per year.

Extinguish/ Extinct ashtray is an object that illustrates the serious consequences of seemingly unobtrusive habbits. It urges people to be aware of their actions in order to prevent major problems. The simple act of properly extinguishing a cigarettes and disposing of it correctly can play a vital role in avoiding environmental damage and the human and economic costs they entail.
To this end, a series of sculptural ashtrays made out of cast-off tree trunks and branches (from sick or dead trees that have been cut down) are installed in public places.

L’idée du projet est née de l’observation des habitudes de fumer dans les espaces publics et l’impact qu’elles ont sur l’environnement. Il a comme but faire les gens réalisenr que leurs actions ont des conséquences désastreuses: le lancement négligeant des cigarettes allumé cause (uniquement dans l’UE), des milliers d’incendies par an.

Ce cendrier est un objet qu’illustre les graves conséquences des habbitudes apparement sans importance. Il exhorte les gens à être conscients de leurs actions afin d’éviter des problèmes majeurs. Le simple fait de bien éteindre une cigarette et en disposer correctement peut jouer un rôle essentiel dans la prévention des dommages environnementaux et des coûts humains et économiques qui en découlent.
À cette fin, une série de cendriers sculpturaux faites de troncs et de branches des arbres (malades ou morts qui ont été coupés) sont installés dans les lieux publics.

To depict the metaphor of cigarette-caused fire, the metal tube is set inside the wood. This sculptural ashtray can be placed in the city, but mostly in parks, where it blends in easily.

Pour décrire la métaphore du feu causé par les cigarettes, le tube métallique est fixée à l’intérieur du bois. Ce cendrier sculpturel peut être placé dans la ville, mais la plupart du temps dans les parcs, où il fait partie de l’environement.

The cement pedestal gives the ashtray a sculptural look, expected to raise curiosity towards the object, while the inscription on the metallic part of the structure offers the key to understanding the idea behind the object through local/ national statistics.
